Infrant Technologies Introduces the ReadyNAS X6
The World’s First X-RAID Enabled NAS Appliance

Fremont, CA – August 16, 2005 – Infrant Technologies™, a leader in network-based storage, today announced the ReadyNAS™ X6—the world’s first Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliance with Infrant Expandable Protection Technology. Infrant’s patent-pending Expandable Protection (X-RAID™) technology lowers the acquisition cost of NAS appliances by allowing automatic expansion of capacity in a NAS RAID array while maintaining protection against single-disk failure. The entire process is automated and does not require any manual reconfiguration or shuffling of data in and out of the NAS. The Infrant ReadyNAS X6 is available now from Infrant partners and distributors in the United States and Canada. Infrant Expandable Protection (X-RAID) offers the following configurations:
• 1 Drive = NAS • 2 Drives = NAS + RAID Protection • 3 Drives = NAS + RAID Protection + Double Capacity • 4 Drives = NAS + RAID Protection + Triple Capacity
“Infrant X-RAID technology not only allows users to add capacity and protection, it is simple to use. More importantly, user data is kept intact during the entire process,” says Paul Tien, President at Infrant Technologies, “Infrant X-RAID technology allows users to start with just a single hard drive, significantly reducing the prohibitive entry price associated with multi-drive network attached storage appliances. Small Business owners and consumers can now simply add more capacity or protection as their needs or budgets allow.” ReadyNAS – The Advanced Small Business and HomeNAS “People are beginning to rely on digital storage for their invaluable photos, music, and personal records. A compressed audio player can hold almost $15,000 worth of purchased songs, and a PC hard drive may contain a lifetime of memories in digital photos and video,” explains IdaRose Sylvester, an analyst with IDC, “By providing high performance, low power processors, Gigabit Ethernet connections, hardware-accelerated RAID, and expansion capabilities, semiconductor companies are enabling easy to use, robust, reasonably priced HomeNAS systems that allow the consumer to protect and manage this content. HomeNAS is to the future of digital content what fireproof safes were to the analog content of the past.” The Infrant ReadyNAS X6 is an ideal HomeNAS solution that offers an expandable, full-featured solution supporting the most advanced technologies including four Serial ATA disks, hardware-accelerated RAID, Gigabit Ethernet, and an Integrated Backup Manager. ReadyNAS – Simplified RAID Management “Infrant has brought the benefits of RAID-based networked storage to the masses with its ReadyNAS X6. Thanks to an innovative design that automates most management tasks, small businesses and families don’t need to have a full-time MIS staff to insure that their critical records, photos, and the other irreplaceable elements of their digital lives are stored on a redundant, failure-tolerant storage solution. This, and the ReadyNAS’s ability to gracefully expand to accommodate growing needs by simply adding one drive at a time makes it an excellent choice to meet current, and future data storage needs,” says Lee Goldberg of Analogzone. The ReadyNAS X6 is ideal for all data storage applications including digital media. With the built-in media server, content can be directly streamed from the ReadyNAS to compatible Digital Media Adapters and Network DVD players. In addition, the ReadyNAS family of products are compatible with Microsoft™ Windows™, Macintosh™ OS and UNIX clients. Pricing and Availability The ReadyNAS X6 is available in three capacities: without disk, with two 250GB drives, and in a four drive 1TB configuration. The suggested retail prices for the three products are $599, $899 and $1,299 respectively.
